Semiotcs and Rhetorics: The HIdden Meanings BEhind Color Symbols and Icons

Semiotics and Rhetorics ultimately is the way people of different cultures define the meaning of any given symbol, color, or icon.   I will talk briefly about some of the basic meanings of symbols, colors, and icons in the American Culture.  In the American culture, we have all come to the understanding that when someone waves at you that they are saying hello.  In a different culture a wave could mean something totally different from us as Americans have established.  In the American culture we often associate the color red with anger.  Just because the color is so bright and immediately grabs the attention of the audience I conclude that that is why red is associated with anger.  AN icon could be one of two things it could be someone that is well known and respected or fit can be something as simple as CAR representing a .  But we can understand that when somebody is referring to  a car that they can use the word instead of taking us outside and pointing at the subject at hand.  To make a long story short, semiotics and rhetorics play a humongous role as to how people function in their society and culture.  In different cultures meanings or things have or could be altered so that it doesn’t mean the same as it would mean some where else.
